Ruth, I love York too, and have been impatiently waiting for the refurbished Museum to be open. I must try and get over there next week. They had some interesting Roman stuff before, and I gather they've expanded the Roman display. Quite right too - the Vikings have had plenty of publicity in York, now it's time the Romans were in the limelight!

That's good to hear, Allan - thanks! Ruso 3 should be available at all good bookshops - and libraries - now.

Best wishes,

Ruth

Thanks for the kind comments, Judith. Yes, we're incredibly lucky to have so much history beneath our feet here - and although we complain about excavating in "hot" weather, I suspect if you sampled it you'd fall about laughing!

Ruth - a small fan note! Yours are about the only mysteries I read and chiefly because they are historical and I love the humor. Am envious of your close proximenty to so many ancient Roman archaeological sites. I live in Texas and its usually too hot to be outside - and no Roman digs! Thanks for the great stories.

Congratulations! I suppose this is the sort of announcement that an author can easily tolerate having to make, even repeatedly as necessary.

They had an interesting discussion on Pliny's "Natural History" last week. I think it's still online: http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/features/in-our-time/

I didn't realize that there were several books on drugs and medicine in his "Natural History".

Ah yes, reading about Roman medicine (or Roman anything, really)is so much more fun than working. I've been enjoying Pliny's 'On the Human Animal' lately. Apparently snake broth gets rid of lice, and women have fewer teeth than men...

So glad you enjoyed the Christians, Linda. They were great fun to write but I did wonder what people would make of them.
